Membership Information

Membership of Mackay Regional Council Libraries is free to all ratepayers and permanent residents of the Mackay Regional Council area.

Permanent residents of Queensland holding library membership to another Queensland public library service are entitled to join free under a Reciprocal arrangement – please present your home library membership card at the point of joining.

Members may borrow and return items at any branch, including the Mobile Library.

To join, new members are required to provide proof of current permanent residential address, using an acceptable form of identification listed below:

• Driver’s licence
• Rates notice
• Pension Card
• Rent receipt
• Electricity or Telephone Bill
• Letter from employer (where the employer pays the accommodation costs)
• Payslip (with address details)

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when joining the library. The parent or guardian must provide proof of current permanent residential address.

Those people wishing to join aged between 16-18 years should speak to a library staff member and bring proof of current permanent residential address.

There is no age limit for new members – anyone can join and enjoy our libraries!
